Gower Peninsula

Gower

In 2006, Gower celebrated its 50th Anniversary as Britain's first designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The 19-mile long Peninsula comprises some of Wales’ cleanest and most stunning beaches, including Rhossili, where you can enjoy the most spectacular view of the famous Worm’s Head and Llangennith - recognised as one of the premier surf beaches in the UK.

Beaches

The Independent newspaper hailed Rhossili Bay as the 'British supermodel of beaches', whilst The Sunday Times listed it as one of the '25 best beaches in the world'.

From the cottage you can easily walk to Mewslade, Fall Bay, Rhossili, and tides permitting, explore Worms Head itself.

Activities

Gower is a haven for walkers, offering short family walks taking in many of the small churches and landmarks in the area, to routes for the more experienced walker from which explore the most breathtaking views of the Peninsula.

Amongst other activities which can be explored on Gower, you can try horse riding, golf, watersports, surfing, climbing amongst a whole host of other outdoor activities.

History

The area boasts many ancient sites, monuments, churches, caves, castles and landmarks including Arthur’s Stone (hugely popular amongst visitors to the area), Giants Grave (a burial chamber dating back to 3,500 BC) and Pennard Castle. The oldest dated modern human remains ever discovered in Britain were found at Paviland Cave in Gower. For more information on Gower, visit www.the-gower.com.
